In support of the visual arts, La Misha features the art work of a different local artist each month. During the month of November a special exhibit recognizes the work of Julia Alcantara
HUMANS ON THE BRINK OF DIVINITY:
Somewhere in the process of birth and death there is a place where our souls float close to God. There is a moment when our bodies are alive, yet our spirit is elsewhere. This transcendental state of consciousness has been used for ages to search for enlightenment. Monks meditate, and shamans use psychotropic plants to stretch their consciousness into the spiritual world in search of answers.
Artists, yogi are, dancers and even athletes use their discipline of choice to enter this trance state for expression of their feelings and to inspire those around them. My art is an attempt to capture this empassioned state on the canvas and share it with the viewer, hopefully inciting some of this magic as they enjoy the sensual poses, energetic movement and rich color or texture in these newer pieces.
The relief series is an allusion to classical form and ideals. In these trying times interesting phenomena is taking place in the realm of science and spirituality. Breakthroughs in Quantum Physics are making the science of probability and power of mediation undeniable. I liken this unification of Art and Science to a NEW RENNAISSANCE that could lead the world into a new era of consciousness.
My creation of these pieces is a labor of love to make others aware of their own spiritual potential. I hope you feel inspired in their presence and maybe even detect the hand of God coming through their portal
